Deck the Walls with Christmas Wall Displays
Creating festive Christmas wall displays is simple and fun. Here are some great ideas that anyone can make with simple, inexpensive items:
Christmas Art Gallery
Create your very own Christmas art gallery with simple, inexpensive items. Use favorite holiday snapshots or the covers from leftover Christmas cards as art. Use holiday themed fabric, felt or heavy paper for matting. Frame your artwork in inexpensive matching frames. Paint them in traditional holiday colors, this season's hottest jewel tone colors, or neutrals such as black, white, or gray, which are also hot this year.
Hang them in a row, a few inches apart, just above eye level.
You can also use the same idea for framing children's artwork.
Add a bow to each frame if desired. For a twist on this idea, use different sizes and shapes of picture frames to create a wall collage. This idea works great in the living room, the hallway, or any space.
Gifts Galore
Wrap several different sizes and shapes of thin boxes with Christmas wrapping paper. Pretty foils in rich colors such as burgundy, sapphire, or topaz will create an elegant effect. Decorate each "gift" extravagantly with satin ribbon, bows, flowers, and other stylish trinkets. Use monochromatic tones for subtle elegance or embellish using colors with strong contrast to create more drama. Hang the faux gifts in a geometric arrangement. This idea will help you create elegant, three-dimensional wall displays for the home or office.
Children's Rooms
Make whimsical three-dimensional wall displays for a children's rooms. Select a medium sized piece of foam core in a bright color and glue a small hat and a pair of mittens to it. Cut a Styrofoam ball in half and glue it to the foam core to imitate snowballs. You can also make a snowman wall display with small, medium, and large Styrofoam balls. Cut in half, glue to foam core, and decorate with twigs for arms and a real hat, scarf, and mittens. Add black buttons for eyes and mouth and a toy carrot or one cut from orange felt for the nose. Spray the edges of the foam core and the mock snowballs and snowmen with spray snow to intensify the effect.
